Director of operations (m/f)

Job description

Our client, a global leader in technology development and equipment supply, provides advanced solutions across more than 80 countries. Renowned for their innovation and expertise in solving industry challenges, they seek an Operations Director for one of their key production sites in Slovenia. This role involves developing the local operations team, successfully relocating entire product lines, and continuously optimising production processes.

Position:

Operations Director Slovenia.

Operations:
- lead and oversee production at the site, ensuring compliance with quality, schedule, and cost targets
- monitor the cost base and implement operational excellence initiatives (e.g., make-or-buy decisions)
- optimize the reporting system, including relevant KPIs in the manufacturing/production process
- implement updates and improvements to the production management system
- prepare high-quality decision-making bases for optimization measures and investments
- support global HQ in implementing strategic projects
- manage local operations and represent the company to local stakeholders

Performance Management and Leadership:
- drive the budgeting and goal-setting process for the production site
- develop and promote the second management level, building a high-performing teams
- continuously develop the site culture and ensure the company's success
- lead with an open, non-hierarchical style, employing pragmatic and impact-oriented problem-solving approaches

Requirements

Your Profile:
- university degree or equivalent education, or several years of practical experience, preferably in mechanical engineering or manufacturing/production
- at least 10 years of experience in the LVHC (Low Volume, High Complexity) Machinery industry, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership position (e.g., plant manager, COO)
- strong business management knowledge
- fluency in Slovenian and proficiency in English or German
- deep understanding of operational excellence methods and tools (Kaizen, Gemba, Kanban, and other lean tools)
- proven track record in successfully managing changes in a production environment
- experience with relocating or upgrading production sites/plants
- ability to optimize and drive the use of digital solutions
- high intercultural sensitivity
- inspiring team leadership skills and a can-do attitude
- strong decision-making and implementation skills
